General Awareness:

This refers to the news and updates based items from any fields happen in the present days such as sports, awards, obituaries, Indian Defense, etc aspirants need to read newspaper daily.

Indian Financial System:

Overview of Financial Markets (Capital Market, Money Market, Forex Market, Credit Market), Financial Intermediaries involved (like underwriters, investment bankers, stock exchanges, depositories, registrars, custodians, mutual funds, Authorized dealers, portfolio managers, primary dealers, self-regulatory organizations, etc. Also read important committees and its recommendations.

History of Indian Banking Industry:

You must know Types of Banks (Scheduled, Co-operatives), Pre Independence, Post-Independence, Nationalization, Structure of Indian Banking, categorization of Bank (Pvt, PSU, Foreign), SIDBI, EXIM, NHB, NABARD, IDBI its role etc. and concept of NBFC.

Regulatory Bodies

RBI, (History/ Roles/ Functions) PFRDA, FSDC, SEBI, IRDA, FMC etc. its role functions and fact based details.

Monetary & Credit Policies:

It decides the basis of change and its relation with Inflation and other related issues & Inflation (Types) Re-Repo/Bank Rate/CRR/ SLR/ Repo etc.

Budget Basicsand Current Union Budget

Discussion Of Budget, GDP, Government revenue model, Fiscal Deficit, Various kinds of taxes and spending etc. and discussion on Union Budget 2015-16. Candidates must read the Rail Budget and Economic Survey.

Capital Market & Money Market:

Call/Notice Money, Certificate of Deposit, Commercial Papers or Capital Treasury Bills and Term Money.

International Organizations/ Financial Institutions:

The aspirants must know the World Bank, IMF, ADB, UN related agencies, recent development in them members heads etc.

Cut-off Score:

Every applicant will be required to get a minimum mark in each test of Online Main examination and also a minimum total mark to be considered to be shortlisted for Personal Interview. Depending on no of vacancies available, cut-offs will be determined and applicants will be shortlisted for Personal Interview. Earlier to completion of Personal Interview process, marks obtained in online Main examination will not be shared with applicants shortlisted for Personal Interview.


Aspirants who have been shortlisted in main examination for will be called for a Personal Interview to be conducted by the organizations and organized by the Nodal Bank in each State/ UT with the help of Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. Interviews will be conducted at various centres. While appearing for the Interview candidates are required to bring original and self attested photocopies of Call Letter, printout of the online application form, Proof of Date of Birth, Photo Identify Proof, Mark-sheets & certificates for Graduation or equivalent qualification, Caste Certificate issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format etc.
  •  The total scores selected for Interview are 100.
  • The minimum qualifying marks in Interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD applicants).
  • The ratio of Main exam and interview is 80:20 respectively.
  • The joint final score of applicants will be arrived at on the basis of marks attained by the aspirants in Main Examination of CWE PO and Interview.
  • Interview score of applicants 7 failing to secure minimum qualifying marks or otherwise disqualified from Interview or further process will not be revealed.
  • Aspirants must qualify both in the CWE (Main) and interview and be sufficiently high in the merit to be shortlisted for following Provisional Allotment Process.
Provisional Allotment:

After completion of Personal Interview, depending on vacancies shortlisted candidates will be provisionally allotted to one of Participating Organizations, based on merit-cum-preference keeping in view the strength of Government Rules on reservation policy, different guidelines issued by Govt. of India/Others from time to time, administrative need, etc.

Contenders will not be permitted to Appear for CWE (Preliminary Exam) without following Documents:
  • Valid Call Letter for the respective date and session of Examination
  • Photo-identity proof (as specified) in original bearing the same name as it appears on the call letter/ application form
  • Photocopy of photo-identity proof
  • Candidates reporting late i.e. after the reporting time specified on the call letter for Examination will not be permitted to take the examination.
