AFCAT Flying Branch Eligibility:
  • AFCAT Eligibility For Flying Branch: Applicants must have B.E /B.Tech Graduation Degree (any discipline) recognized university with 60% marks or three year duration Bachelor’s degree with 60% marks.
  • You should have passed Maths and Physics at Class 12 level (senior secondary exam)
AFCAT Technical Branch Eligibility:
  • To get eligible for AFCAT Technical Branch, you must have BE /BTech Graduation Degree (any discipline) recognized university with 60% marks.
  • Or applicants should have cleared section A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or graduate membership examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers.

AFCAT Ground Duty Eligibility:

Ground duty work is divided into three categories and accordingly AFCAT Eligibility Criteria is decided.

For Administration & Logistics: Candidates must possess 3 year graduation degree/ Post Graduation Degree in any discipline from a well-recognized institute or university with Minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all papers.

Accounts: Aspirants must possess 3 year graduation degree in Commerce (B Com) / Post Graduation Degree in Commerce (MCom) / CA/ ICWA in any discipline from a well recognized institute or university with Minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers.

Education: Applying candidates must possess Post Graduate Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers.

AFCAT Age Limit:

AFCAT Age Limit for Flying Branch:
  • Contenders applying for Air Force Common Admission Test should be between 20 to 24 years as on 1 July 2018 that is born between 2 July 1994 to 1 July 1998 (Both Dates Inclusive) 
  • Aspirants holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) will get upper age relaxation up to 26 years i.e. 2 July 1992 to 1 July 1998 (Both dates inclusive)
AFCAT Age Limit for Technical Branch:
  • AFCAT Age Eligibility: Candidates should not be less than 20 years and more than 26 years of age as on the commencement of the course
AFCAT Age Limit for Ground Duty Branch:
  • Candidates applying for AFCAT 2018 should be between 20 and 26 years of age as on the commencement of the course.

Marriage Criteria:
  • Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried.
  • Marriage is not permitted during training.
  • Married candidates above 25 years of age are eligible to apply but during training period they will neither be provided married accommodation nor they can live with family.
AFCAT Selection Process:

IAF conducts a written examination (AFCAT 1 & AFCAT 2) as the first phase for the selection of Officers through AFCAT Exam. The selection will be done on basis of following rounds:
  • Stage-I: Online Examination
  • Stage-II: SSB Interview
  • Medical Examination
Those applicants who will be short-listed on the basis of Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT/EKT) will be called for further process that is Interview.

Stage-I: AFCAT Exam:

Indian Air Force conducts the online exam for the duration of 2 hours and 100 questions will be asked. AFCAT Question Papers will come from Verbal Ability, Numerical ability, Reasoning, General Awareness and Military Aptitude. Check the AFCAT Syllabus from here.

Stage-II: SSB Interview:

Only candidates, who clear the stage-I, will be promoted to stage-II where Interview will be done to ensure the eligibility of candidates.


Stage-III: Medical Examination:

Stage-III of the AFCAT Selection Process involves Psychological Test, Medical Examination conducted by the Staff Selection Board (SSC).
