IBSAT Selection Process
IBSAT is an online aptitude test conducted by The ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (a deemed to be University under Section 3 of UGC act 1956), for students seeking admission to the MBA / PGPM /PhD programs.

IBSAT is a Computer Based Test (CBT) and consists of multiple choice questions. IBSAT is of 2 hours duration and is aimed at testing the applicant’s ability in quantitative techniques, data interpretation, data adequacy, vocabulary, analytical reasoning and reading comprehension.

Candidates who have qualified based on IBSAT / GMAT (2013 onwards) / NMAT by GMACTM / CAT score are called for selection process. The selection process comprises of Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

Candidates who are shortlisted for MBA/ PGPM program based on their IBSAT / GMAT/ CAT scores are called for selection process conducted at nine IBS campuses namely IBS Ahmedabad, IBS Bangalore, IBS Dehradun, IBS Gurgaon, IBS Hyderabad, IBS Jaipur, IBS Kolkata, IBS Mumbai and IBS Pune. The selection process is conducted for the following programs of IBS:
  • MBA program offered by IBS Hyderabad, IBS Dehradun and IBS Jaipur
  • PhD program in Management offered by IBS Hyderabad
  • PGPM (Post Graduate program in Management) program offered at IBS Ahmedabad, IBS Bangalore, IBS Gurgaon, IBS Kolkata, IBS Mumbai and IBS Pune.
The admission decision is solely based on overall performance of candidate. The composite score of a candidate is arrived at based on candidates past academic record and performance in Group discussion and Personal Interview.

Irrespective of where candidates attend selection process, they are eligible for selection for the campus based on their overall performance. Candidates who are shortlisted for PhD program are called for selection process at IBS Hyderabad.

Registration for Selection Process:

To take a part in section process, firstly aspirants need to register your-self. All candidates have to register for Selection Process at 9.00 a.m. at selection process venue on the date confirmed by them by showing selection process call letter. To register themselves applicants need to submit duly filled in personal data form with photo affixed at the time of registration. Contenders will not be allowed to register for selection process without submission of duly filled in personal data form.


Submission of Documents

Contenders have to submit following documents at the registration counters on day of selection process:
  • Personal Data Form (Duly filled in with photo affixed)
  • Xerox copies of marks sheets and certificates of
  • X, XII and graduation (Self attested).
  • Xerox copies of marks sheets and certificates of Post Graduation/ Professional Qualification (Self attested – If applicable).
  • Aspirants will not be permitted to attend selection process if they do not submit above documents.
  • The selection process comprises of Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The process generally takes 3 – 4 hours from commencement of briefing.
Group Discussion:

 In group discussion a topic will be announced to a group of 8 candidates. Applicants will be given 15 minutes for group discussion. After discussion each candidate will be given a chance to conclude his/ her opinion in a minute. Depending on individual performance candidates attributes are assessed on various parameters like expression, initiative, communication, analytical skills and behavior in group.


Personal Interview:

Personal interview is final stage of selection process. Interview panel members are Directors, Deans, Senior Faculty Members and Alumni. They will interview participants for about 10 - 15 minutes. The questions during personal interview will focus on assessing attitude, aptitude and aspirations of applicant.


Criteria for selection and allotment of seats:

Admissions are strictly based on merit. A composite score out of 100 is arrived at based on various parameters. The Weightage allotted to different components in selection process are given in table:
