UPSC Civil Services Eligibility Criteria:


1. For Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, applicants should be Indian resident.

2. For other civil services candidates must be a citizen of below mentioned countries:
  • India
  • Nepal
  • Bhutan
A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or

A person of Indian origin (PIO) who has migrated from Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Pakistan, Burma, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, Zaire and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

Qualification Required:

Candidates must have possessed degree in any discipline from concern Universities recognized by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions.

Application Fee:
  • Applicants applying against Civil Services (Main) Examination are required to pay a fee of Rs.200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only) either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using Net Banking facility of SBI/State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala/ State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit card.
  • Candidates belonging to Female/SC/ST/PH categories are exempted from payment of fee.

Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exam, UPSC Civil Services Main Exam and Interview.
