UPSC Civil Services Eligibility 2017:

Nationality:

1. For Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, applicants should be Indian resident.
2. For other civil services candidates must be a citizen of below mentioned countries:
  • India
  • Nepal
  • Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
  • A person of Indian origin (PIO) who has migrated from Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Pakistan, Burma, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, Zaire and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
CSE Age Limits:

Interested aspirants for UPSC Civil Services Exam 2017 must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on the 1st of August, 2017.

Age Relaxation:
  • For candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe upper age limit is relaxed up to five years.
  • For candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation you can get relaxation of three years.
  • Candidate, who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989 is admissible for five years age relaxation.
  • In the case of Defence Services Personnel, disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof will get three year relaxation.
  • Ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 1st August, 2017 will get five years relaxation.
CSE Educational Qualifications:

Candidates should have degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament are eligible to apply for UPSC Civil Services 2017 Exam.

Number Of Attempts:
  • Candidates shall be permitted six attempts at the Civil Services Examination.
  • In the case of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates there is no limit of attempts.

Application Fee:
  • For Female/ SC/ ST/ PH Candidates: No Fee
  • For other Category Candidates: Rs. 100/-
Mode of Payment:

Fee should be submitted in any Branch of SBI by Cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India/ State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/Sate Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala /State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.
