Union Public Service Commission conducts entrance examination two times in a year to select the appropriable candidates for National Defence Academy. To appear in NDA Entrance Exam candidates can apply from official website of UPSC that is www.upsc.gov.in But it is mandatory for the applying candidate to meet with the eligibility norms, so before applying contender must ensure their suitability. NDA Eligibility Criteria

Educational Requirements:

In Army Force of NDA:

Candidates must have competed 12th Class pass or equivalent examination conducted from recognized state education board or university.

In Air Force and Naval Force of NDA:
  • Candidates must have completed 12th Class or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as main subjects from any recognized state education board or a university
  • And those aspirants who are appearing in the 12th class under the 10+2 pattern of school education or equivalent exam, they are also eligible to appear in this exam.
Note: Aspirants who have yet not qualified 12th class or equivalent and are applicable to sit in UPSC Exam should notify that they are they granted with special concession.


Nationality:

Candidate must be attain any of the following nationality:
  • Citizen of India
  • Subject of Bhutan
  • Subject of Nepal
  • Tibetan refugee who settled in India before 01st January 1962
  • People who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam to settle down in India
Note: Beside this candidates must attain nationality certificate issued by government of India.

Age Criteria:

For NDA (1) 2017:
  • The candidate age should lie from 2nd July, 1998 to 1st July, 2001.
  • If contenders are born before 2nd July, 1998 and after 1st July, 2001 then they are not applicable for NDA (1) 2017 exam.

For NDA (2) 2017:
  • Aspirants whose age lies from 2nd January 1999 to 1st July 2002 are eligible to appear for exam.
  • If the age of contender lie before 2nd January, 1999 and after 1st July 2002, then they are not applicable for this exam
Pay Attention!!
  • Ministry of Defence declared some contenders debarred to get recruited in any Defence Services are not eligible to appear for the exam, if appear further it will be cancelled by the commission.
  • Even the aspirants who were not able to qualify INSB/PABT earlier are not applicable for Air Force.
  • Females are not allowed to appear in this exam.
  • Only those male contenders are eligible for NDA examination that is unmarried.
  • Candidates are not allowed to get marry in between their training. It happens then the contender is not applicable for training and shall be discharged, along with this aspirants have to refund all the expenses made by the Government on him.
Physical Standards

Candidates applying for the exam must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination. A candidate recommended by Services Selection Board will undergo a medical examination by a Board of Service Medical Officers. Candidates are also advised to rectify minor defects/ailments in order to speed up finalization of medical examination conducted at the Military Hospital. The following are considered common minor ailments.
  • Wax (Ears).
  • Deviated Nasal Septum.
  • Hydrocele /Phimosis.
  • Overweight/Underweight.
  • Under Sized Chest.
  • Piles.
  • Tonsillitis.
  • Gynaecomastia.
  • Varicocele.

Spinal Condition

Through NDA Examination, eligible contenders are posted in three wings of Indian Defence Forces that are Air Force, Navy and Army and every year huge number of candidates participates in this exam with the same motive to fulfill that desire. So candidates must be physically and mentally fit. If applying candidate attain any of the following skin disease then they will be declared disqualified for Air Force:
  • Unilateral/Bilateral cervical ribs with demon strable  neurological  or circulatory deficit.
  • Granulomatous disease of spine
  • Arthritidies/spondylosis (Rheumatoid arthritis and allied disorders/ Ankylosing spondylitis/ Osteoarthrosis, spondylosis and degenerative joint disease/ Non articular rheumatism & Miscellaneous disorders including SLE, polymyositis, vasculitis.
  • Scoliosis more than 15 degree as measured by Cobb’s method.
  • Degenerative Disc. Disease.
  • Unilateral Sacralisation or lumbarisation (Complete or incomplete) and bilateral incomplete sacralisation/ lumbarisation.
  • Spondylolisthesis/spondylolysis.
  • Compression fracture of vertebrae.
  • Scheuerman’s disease (Adolescent kyphosis)
  • Loss of cervical lordosis when associated with clinically restricted movements of cervical spine.
  • Presence of schmorl’s nodes at more than one level.
  • Atlanto-occipital and atlantoaxial anomalies.
  • Hemi vertebrae and/or incomplete block (fused) vertebrae in cervical, dorsal or lumbar spine and complete block (fused) vertebrae in cervical or dorsal spine.

X-Ray Examination

During the X-Ray examination if any of the following diseases are detected then this will lead to disqualified for Armed Forces:
  • Compression fracture of Vertebra.
  • Sacaralisation Disease
  • Spondylolisthesis/Spondylosis/Spondylolysis
  • Herniated nucleus pulposes.
  • Cervical ribs with demonstrable neurological or Circulatory deficit.
  • Spina Bifida other than SV 1 and LV 5 if completely Sacralised
  • Any other abnormality, if so considered by specialist
  • Granulomatius disease of spine.
  • Arthritidies/spondylosis
  • Scoliosis more than 15 degree as measured by Cobb’s Method (10 degree for Army and Navy).
  • More than mild Kyphosis/Lordosis
  • Presence of Schmorl’s node at more than one level.
  • Atlanto-occipital and atlanto-axial anomalies.
  • Incomplete Sacaralisation Unilateral or Bilateral
Other Physical Standards
  • Contenders declared physically fit by any Medical board
  • good physical & mental health
  • free from any vulnerable disease/disability
  • no signs for weak constitution, bodily defects or under weight.
  • Aspirant must not be overweight or obese.
  • Should not have past mental breakdown or fits.
  • Blood Pressure should be normal
  • Free from any organic disease of the heart and blood vessels.
  • liver or spleen should not be enlarged.
  • No hydrocele, varicocele or piles.
  • Aspirant should not suffer from severe pyorrhoea.

NDA Physical Conditioning:


Candidate must perform all this in his/her daily routine to be physically and mentally fit:
  • Running 2.4 km in 15 minutes
  • Skipping
  • Pushups and sit ups (minimum 20 each)
  • Chin ups (minimum 08)
  • Rope climbing 3-4 meters.

NDA I
  • Release date for Official notification: 10/01/2018
  • Closing date to submit application form: 05/02/2018
  • Release date for admit cards: April 2018
  • Exam date: 22/04/2018
NDA II
  • Release date for Official notification: 06/06/2018
  • Closing date to submit application form: 02/07/2018
  • Release date for admit cards: 1-2 weeks before exam date
