NDA refers to the National Defence Academy and there are three defence wings in it as-
1.    The Indian Army
2.    The Indian Navy and
The trainees, before going on pre-commissioning training in their respective service academies are taught mutually here.
How to Join NDA after 12th
For the aspirants who have completed intermediate, NDA is considered as one of the most remunerative options in education. Candidates can enhance their career bright by choosing NDA as a Career. Candidates who want to join National defence academy they need to crack entrance examination first.

Candidates who are willing to join National Defence Academy they need to choose their preference for the two academies i.e. NDA and Naval Academy (Executive Branch). If aspirants choose for NDA, then he has to give their preferences for the three divisions of NDA like Army, Navy, Air force, followed by his preference for Naval Academy.

What is the main exception for candidates to join NDA?
  • Candidates other than Indian citizen are not allowed
  • And the applicant has to be a man.
  • Females are not eligible to join NDA.
Can Girls Candidates apply for NDA?

After completing 12th class, if you have decided to serve your country than joining National Defence Academy (NDA) is the best option you have. Applicants who want to join NDA for them there are some certain Eligibility Criteria has been set by the organization in which it is clearly mentioned that applying aspirants must be of age group between 16.5 to 19 years and only Unmarried Male Candidates can apply. 

Other than qualifications there are other requirements also that the candidates have to fulfill, so here are some Height and Weight Standards for NDA:

Nationality for NDA Exam:

A candidate must be either:

a)    A citizen of India, or
b)    a subject of Nepal, or
c)    a subject of Bhutan, or
d)    a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. or
e)    a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

Certificate of eligibility will not, however, be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.

In brief the Candidates who want to join NDA should fulfill the eligibility criteria as follows:-
  • The age of the aspirant must lie between 16.5 to 19 years
  • Candidate’s height should be 157cm at minimum
  • The nationality of the candidate must be Indian.
  • Candidate’s marital status should be unmarried
  • Candidates must have minimum 12th passed from any recognized Board
  • Candidates will be selected on the basis of Written Examination and Physical Test
  • Applicants should be mentally and physically stable and should be free from any underweight, bodily defects and obese.
How to Join NDA after 12th?
  • There are a lot of aspirants who want to get a chance so that they can build their Career in Defence Services and for that the applicants choose NDA as the best option in enhancing their career. Today NDA as a career is probably the first choice of every candidate.
  • If the contender wants to join NDA after 12th then he have to clear the entrance test conducted and if the aspirant qualifies the test then the State Selection Board called the personnel for further rounds of interviews.
  • The candidates will also have to go through a psychology test and Group task administered by the SSB.
How to Approach For NDA?
  • Candidates are informed that every year Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) release NDA Notification in the month on December-January and May-June and the exam is conducted in the months of April and September.
  • The Union Public Service Commission shall prepare a list of candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination as fixed by the commission at their discretion.
  • The written examination is the first stage of the selection of candidates under NDA & NA II. Those candidates who successfully qualified the first stage would be only invited to participate in the next round that is SSB Interview.
  • SSB Interview is the second and final round of NDA Selection Process. The SSB Interview round comprises two separate tests – Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test.
  • The two-stage selection procedure based on Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test has been introduced at Selection Centres / Air Force Selection Boards/ Naval Selection Boards. The qualifying candidates have to be put to stage for test on the first day of reporting at Selection Centres/Air Force Selection Boards/Naval Selection Boards.
  • Only those candidates who qualify at stage 1 will be called for the second stage/remaining tests. The candidates who qualify stage II will be required to submit the following Original Certificates along with one photocopy each of:
  • Original Matriculation pass certificate or equivalent in support of date of birth,
  • Original 10+2 pass certificate or equivalent in support of educational qualification.
  • To be acceptable, candidates for the Army/Navy/Naval Academy and Air Force should secure the minimum qualifying marks separately in:
  • Written examination of NDA 2017 as set by the Commission
  • Officer Potentiality Test as fixed by the Services Selection Board at their discretion.

Guidelines to Join NDA:

Here we are providing you the guidelines so that you will get to know that, How to Join National Defence Academy After 12th? There are a set of rules and regulations that the aspirants have to know and have to follow.
  • You have to crack written entrance exam of NDA (National Defence Academy).
  • This exam is one of the Indian Defence Service exams and this exam is conducted by UPSC two times every year.
  • This examination is conducted in these 3 wings, the wings are following: Army wings, Naval wings, Air force wings
  • You have to complete Intermediate examination with Physics & Maths but you are from arts so you have to choose only army wings at the time of admission because only this is for arts students.
  • The NDA exam notification will be published in last week of December so you will have to check official time to time. 
  • After cracking UPSC NDA written test, you are eligible for SSB interview for final selection.
  • The UPSC is completely responsible for the finance for conducting the entrance exam and for providing the guidelines for selection from the entrance. (NDA Sample Paper)
  • For Army service the candidates should have passed plus two or equivalent tests conducted by the state government
  • The examination is out of 900 marks. Paper I math 300 and Paper II General Ability 600
  • In short the procedures of NDA are a written exam, SSB interview, and a medical test

Details of NDA Exam:
  • The NDA entrance examination will be asked in two subsequent sections; written test and intelligence & personality test.
  • The question paper of written test will contain objective type questions and sectioned in code 1 & 2.
  • Code 1 will comprise of Mathematics questions of 300 marks while code 2 will comprise of general ability questions of 600 marks.
  • Code 2 will be divided in 2 sections as A & B. Section A will cover Math of 200 marks while section B will cover general knowledge of 400 marks.
  • The paper will be of both language Hindi & English.
  • Each question will have four optional answer candidates have to choose the right one only.
  • There will be negative marking for incorrect response given by candidates.
  • Candidates use only black ball pen to mark answers.
  • The NDA exam paper will be consisted of two parts i.e. Mathematics and General Ability Test.
  • The paper will be held through offline mode.

Travelling Allowance:
