OTET Eligibility Criteria

For Category-A (Paper-I):
  • Aspirants who are applying for this paper  they should have Higher Secondary +2 or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks
  • 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education / Special Education approved by RCI Rehabilitation Council of India
  •  Bachelors degree with 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education / 2 years Diploma in Special Education approved by RCI.
For Category-B (Paper-II):

Graduation with at least 50% marks with 1 year Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.)/ 1 year B.Ed. Special Education approved by RCI/+ 2 or equivalent with at least 50% marks and 4 years B.A. Ed./ B.Sc. Ed. (integrated course

Relaxations:
  • Relaxation will be provided to reserved category candidates of 5% in qualifying marks in +2 or at the graduation level
  • Aspirants who have gain minimum marks in 12th  or graduation level, as the case may be as prescribed at the time of admission into Teacher Education Course; shall also be eligible to appear at OTET
  • Aspirants who are in their Final Year of any of the teacher education courses recognized by NCTE or by the RCI as the case may be in both the categories; can also appear at OTET.
  • Untrained Candidates: candidates who are not trained and  belonging to SC, ST & PH category with required percentage of marks 5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks in +2 or Graduation Level as the case may be, for the aspirants belonging to SC, ST categories shall be eligible.
  • Aspirants are eligible to apply under category –B as per the  State’s guide line Resolution No.14302/ SME/ Dt.04.06.2012,  will not be eligible to apply for category-A. 
Age Limitations:
  • Aspirants who are willing to appear for the Orissa TET must attain a minimum of 21 years of age as of the examination year.
  • Relaxation will be provided to reserved category candidates as per the norms of the organization.

Orissa Govt. divided Orissa TET exam into 2 ways:
  • Orissa TET Category I Exam Class I to V in Orissa Govt Schools
  • Orissa TET Category II Exam for Class VI to VIII in Orissa Govt Schools

OTET Exam Conditions:
  • All questions will be of multiple choice category carrying one mark with four alternatives; out of which the aspirants are required to decide out one correct answer.
  • The aspirants will record the answers on OMR Sheet by highlighting the circles completely with Blue/ Black ball point pen only.
  • The question papers in non-language subjects will be in Odia & English.
  • Aspirants have to choose any one of the following language for language-I, in both paper; i.e. Odia, Hindi, Telugu, Urdu and Bengali.
  • Language-II will be English for all candidates in both the papers .
  • Contenders applying for Paper-II will have to choose either Mathematics & Science or Social Studies as one the Optional Subject.
  • There will be no negative marking.
  • The minimum passing mark in each paper is 60%. A person securing 60% or more in a paper will be considered OTET Pass. In case of reserved category candidates SC, ST, PH, OBC/ SEBC the minimum passing  marks will be 50%.
  • There will be no restriction on the number of attempts a person can make for acquiring OTET qualifying certificate. A person who has qualified in OTET may also appear again for in same paper for improving his / her marks.
  • The validity period of OTET qualifying certificate / mark sheet shall be a period of 07(seven) years from the date of OTET Exam.
  • Candidates will be awarded with an OTET Certificate by Board of Secondary Education, Odisha.
  • The result shall be processed on the basis of the information furnished by the candidates in the online application. No complaints/ revision shall be entertained after online submission of application or after publication of result.
