Requirements in Geological Survey of India

For Grade ‘A’ Geologists: Aspirants who want to apply for the post of Geologists Grade ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India must hold Masters Degree in Geological Science/Geology/Geo-Exploration/ Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology/Marine Geology/Earth Science and Resource management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Petroleum Exploration/Geochemistry or Geological Technology from a recognized university or institiute.

For Grade ‘A’ Geophysicists: Those applicants who want to apply for the post of Geophysicists Grade ‘A’ in Geological Survey of Indian must hold degree of M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics)/Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics)/Master of Science (Applied Geophysics)/M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics)/M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) from a recognized university or institute.

For Grade ‘A’ Chemists: Contenders who are interested to apply for the post of Chemists Grade ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India must posses with the master degree of Science (M.SC.) in Chemistry/Applied Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry from a from recognized university or institute.

Requirements in Central Ground Water Board

For Group ‘A’ Junior Hydro-Geologists (Scientist-B)

Candidates who want to apply for the position of Junior Hydro-Geologists (Scientist-B) in Central Ground Water Board Group ‘A’ must hold Masters Degree in Geology/Applied Geology/ marine Geology from a recognized university or institute.

Applying candidates must be citizen of one of the below given Country and having a certificate of eligibility from the government of India -
  • India, or
  • Nepal, or
  • Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who has came before 1st January, 1962 with the purpose of permanently settling in India. or
  • An Indian who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the objective of permanently settling in India

UPSC Age Limit:
  • The minimum age of the candidates should not be below 21 years and the maximum age must be 32 years for the posts of Geologist, Geophysicists, and Chemists.
  • For Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist-B) post the maximum age should be 35 years.
  • The age relaxation of the candidates for various categories will be as per the rules of the government which will be given below in this table-
