Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts JEE Mains exam 2018 and those who will get qualified in have to attend JEE MAIN Counselling 2018. JEE MAIN Counselling Eligibility Criteria
  • Applicants, who are interested for JEE exam has to qualify in JEE Main 2018 by securing marks above the set cut-off Benchmarks.
  • Top 220000 qualified contenders in JEE Main will be eligible for JEE Advanced 2018.
  • For getting final selection in ITI, candidate also has to qualify JEE Advanced after qualifying in mains exams.
  • In order to qualify for admission into IITs/NITs/CFTIs, candidates have to secure minimum 75% marks in 12th exam or be in top 20 percentile in 12th class exam conducted by respective board. Minimum marks for SC/ST candidates in 12th examination are 65%.
  • Participated contenders who accepted the IIT seat by reporting at a reporting centre in the past or whose admission in IITs was cancelled are not eligible for admission.
  • Candidates who have paid seat acceptance fee but not accepted the seat are eligible for admission.

JEE Main Counselling Process:

Applicants who have qualified in JEE Main Examination can apply for this Counselling. There will be six stages in the counselling; a candidate must attend all these stages to get the final allotment confirmation and join the course. Following is the list of stages:

  • Choice Filling & Locking
  • Seat Allotment
  • Fee Payment & Seat Acceptance
  • Reporting at Allotted Reporting Centre
  • Reporting to Allotted Institution
Reservation of Seats:

According to the rules of Government of India, applicants, who belongs to reserved category reservation in seats is provided. Reserved categories include the following casts Other Backward Classes- Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL), Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) & Persons with Disability (PwD). Contenders who will get admission to State Engineering colleges through JEE Main, the reservation rules of that state will apply. The seat reservation benefits only given to candidates, those classes/castes/tribes are in the respective central list published by the Govt of India for admission to NITs/IIITs and CFTIs.

Procedure to Be Followed For JEE MAIN Counselling 2018

Online Registration:
  • First and foremost step of every individual is to open official website of organization that is josaa.nic.in.
  • After that applicants have to select appropriate link for registration of JEE Main counseling.
  • Now some details will be asked regarding candidate.
  • Applicants have to fill the asked details like JEE Main 2018 Roll No.” & “Password”.
  • When all the process is done hit login tab.
  • After that, some instructions will appear, read them carefully and if you satisfy with them press “I Agree” button.
  • Now, registration form of JoSSA will appear.
  • Tick on “declaration” button, read the information carefully to remove any error if occurred and at last press “confirm Registration” tab.
Online Choice Filling and Locking:
  • After the registration process is completed, candidates have to select “Choice Available” option.
  • Select Institute Type, Institute Name & Academic Programme.
  • After that participants have to press on “Choice Filling & Locking” option.
  • Now, choose Colleges & Courses according to your interest and fill maximum possible choices for allotment.
  • After selecting the choices, arrange them in decreasing order by pressing on “choice Interchange” option and then press “Submit” tab.
  • If candidates want to delete their filled choices, hit on the “Multiple Deletion” option.
  • Lock the choices before the deadline by clicking on the option “Lock Choice”.
  • Make choices carefully, choices one locked will not change.
  • Choice locking will be made after each round of counselling.
  • Candidates can mark upgraded choice in successive rounds of choice filling and locking process.
Seat Allotment:
  • Seat Allotment will be done on the basis of reservation norms, choices filled and vacancies.
  • Candidates will get an Email/SMS regards to the seat allotment after a few days of choice lock.
  • Download the seat allotment letter.
Fee Payment & Seat Acceptance:
  • Afterwards, pay the acceptance fees to confirm the allotment of seats.
  • Candidates have to deposit the fee via SBI Net Banking/e-Challan.
  • Verify all the documents at any reporting center for provisional seat acceptance.
  • A provisional admission letter will be issued on completion of the process.
  • Note: Previous year, the seat acceptance fee is Rs.20000 for SC/ST/SC-PwD/ST-PwD/GEN-PwD/OBC-NCL-PwD & for all other Candidates Rs. 45000.

Reporting to Allocated Institution:
  • Now, applicants have to report to the allotted institution after the fee acceptance.
  • Candidates have to report at the allotted college along with all the original documents and certificates.
  • Contenders, those allotted a seat in NIT, IIIT, IIEST & other GFTI colleges have to report only at reporting center of these institutions.
  • Candidates who have allotted seat in IIT & ISM have to report only at reporting center of IITs.
