UPSC Geologist Exam Pattern

Union Public Service Commission organizes Geologist & Geo-Scientist Examination every year in three stages for the selection of right candidate.
Geologist & Geo-Scientist Written Examination Pattern:
  • In UPSC Geologist & Geo-Scientist written exam there consists 5 papers.
  • The examinations are conducted in two categories for different posts that are Category -I for Geological survey of India (GSI), Category -II for Central Ground Water Board (CGWB).
  • All the questions in the question paper will be of conventional (essay) type which the candidates have to attempt it in English language only.
  • The commission is authorized for fixing the qualifying marks in subjects.
  • Candidates may go through the blow given details carefully to garn detailed information.

  • Aspirants who have applied for the posts of Geologist, Geophysicist, Chemist and Junior Hydrogeologist will need to appear in examination for all the subjects as mentioned above under the given category.
  • Those contenders who have applied for the posts of Geologist and Jr. Hydrogeologist will have to participate in the exams of all the subjects as mentioned under the categories 1 and 4 above.
UPSC Geologist Interview (Personality Test) Pattern

All the aspirants who will successfully qualifies in UPSC Geologist written exam are required to attend the further recruitment process that is Interview/ Personality Test. As per the UPSC Geologist & Geo-Scientist Interview scheme they the observers will check the suitability of the aspirant for the applied post. They will pay focus to the personality of candidate and whether he/she can fit best for performing the tasks in job. The interview will be conducted by competent board carrying 200 marks. They will check the intellectual and social skills of the aspirant and knowledge related to the working of profile.  However the decision selecting the right candidate will be made by unbiased observers.

Document Verification:
  • When the candidates will be finally get selected after the interview they are required to appear for document verification round.
  • This round is mainly conducted to check the eligibility of the aspirant in terms of qualification documents.
  • Candidates are asked to bring their original documents so that they can verify the eligibility conditions which are necessary.
  • If any of the selected aspirants is found guilty and his/her documents did not verify with the eligibility conditions then there selection is liable to cancellation in case of guilty.
