Creamy Layer Income Limit for OBCs

Central government has taken a move for smooth distribution of reservation benefits among other backward classes. Creamy Layer Income Limit for OBCs has been increased upto Rs. 8 Lakh Per Annum from existing limit of Rs. 6 Lakh PA. The income limit as Other Backward Classes is raised by Rs. 2 lakh PA as the Union cabinet permitted setting up of a board for taking decision on sub-categorization among OBCs.

Today Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that Union Cabinet was officially informed about the decision of Increment in the Creamy Layer Income Limit for OBCs for Government Jobs. As per the announcement of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given clue of hike in the Creamy Layer Income Limit for OBCs in Assam. Recently income limit has raised from Rs. 6 Lakh to Rs. 8 Lakh per annum and this order has issued and implemented by Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) for influence the creamy layer OBC (Other Backward Classes),”.

Creamy Layer Bar Increment Year Wise:

Creamy Layer Limit for OBCs has been revised three times as it was fixed in the year of 1993 at Rs. 1 Lakh Per Annum. In the year 2004, it hiked upto Rs. 2.5 Lakh Per Annum and in 2008 year it is increased upto Rs. 4.5 Lakh. The present Creamy Layer Limit for OBCs that is Rs. 6 Lakh Per Annum is set up in 2013. As per the decision of the union cabinet sub-categorization within OBCs for equal division of reservation benefits the Creamy Layer Income Bar is raised by Rs. 2 lakh Per Annum.

Initiates for this Move:

After the violent behavior against Dalits in various parts of the county, central government came under the attack for irregular responses. According to the resources this move can also impact on OBC voters in Uttar Pradesh, which can be in favour of Central Government. It was expected that hike of Rs. 10 Lakh will be given but as per the Union Minister for Social Justice Thahwar Chand Gehlot it is raised up Rs. 8 lakh only.

Benefits of Current Creamy Layer Income Limit for OBCs:

It would be good news for those, who come under Non Creamy Layer Limit for OBCs. Presently, who are having Yearly income more than Rs. 6 Lakh, are under Non Creamy Layer Income Limit for OBCs. This move of Government will increase number of vacancies in government jobs for Other Backward Classes and OBCs families can equally take the benefits of reservation.
