Uttar Pradesh state government has recently introduced a new scheme for pregnant women, called Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana. The PMMVY scheme aims to give financial assistance to pregnant women of Rs. 5000 for their first baby. The amount will be easily transferred into the bank account of 1st Time Pregnant Women after providing the bank account details.

The basic objective behind formation of such scheme is to assure the pregnant women is healthy enough to deliver the child safely. The notable point is that only those women who conceived after January 1, 2017 can avail the benefits of this newly formed Yojana. PMMVY is reportedly a centrally sponsored scheme, launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 31st December 2016.

  • To take full benefits of the scheme, pregnant women need to register their bank account details and other info at the public health center.
  • The beneficiary women are required to link their Aadhar card with the bank account.
  • The Government will transfer the amount of Rs. 5000 in three installments.
  • The first installment of Rs. 1000 will be received at time of registration of pregnancy. Second installment of Rs. 2000 will be transferred into the bank account of the beneficiary women on check-up after six months. The third installment of Rs. 2000 will be received by the women after vaccination of six months of the newborn baby.

Relevant Points About The Scheme

With this scheme the government is trying to protect the health of pregnant women and her child, especially the poor section of society who is facing monetary issues. The amount of Rs. 5000 will be directly transferred into the bank account of pregnant lady who has conceived after January 1, 2017. The amount will be transferred in three installments, carrying the amount 1000 (first installment), 2000 (second installment) and 2000 (third installment). 

The first installment will be received by the beneficial women at the time of registration, the second installment will be transferred on check-up after six months and the third installment will be given after vaccination of six months of the newborn baby.
