New chair for IPAB
  • Justice Manmohan Singh has been given additional charge as the chairman of the Chennai-headquartered Intellectual Property Appellate Board (IPAB).
  • He’ll take charge from January 1, 2018.
  • Before him the IPAB was without a regular chairman for 19 months.

Rajendran appointed as REAT chairman
  • Former High Court judge B. Rajendran has been appointed as the chairperson of the Real Estate Appellate Tribunal (REAT) for Tamil Nadu and Andaman & Nicobar
  • Salary of the chairperson is Rs.80,000 per month.

Avian flu scare in city
  • One confirmed case of a chicken infected with the H5N1 virus was reported in Bengaluru.
  • Bird flu was last reported in Bangalore in October 2012.
  • All chicken stalls in the area were immediately shut down to prevent spread of the virus.
