Indian Railways to Train 30000 Apprentices

Indian Railways has taken initiative towards skill India through the apprenticeship program. In this program, Indian Railways is going to Train 30000 Apprentices as a part of skill India.  Selected Apprentices for the Skill India Initiative 2018-19, will be trained in various categories like fitter, turner, machinist, welder, painter, carpenter, electrician, refrigerator and AC mechanic, mechanic (motor vehicle/diesel) and others.

RLY targets training 30,000 apprentices in FY:

The Indian Railway apprenticeship program covers the basic training of the job. Candidates will have to undergo with the basic training, especially those who have not gone through any institutional training or skill. Aspirants should know that Training would take place at 16 zonal and seven production units.

Railways 'Skill India Initiative' aims to train 30,000 apprentices:

Railway mentioned that the skill development of labour force employee plays very important role to develop the human resources. As a part of Skill India Initiative, Government of Indian Railway has decided to contribute by providing the training to Apprentices.

Those who want to do these jobs must be aware about the training and should be a part of it. There are many benefits of the training apprentices which are mention in below section.


Benefits Of Apprenticeship Program:
  • Apprentices trained in Railway establishments will get preference for 12,000 of the 62,907 vacancies announced recently in Level 1 pay scale.
  • Those employee who are doing work on Level C and Level D recruitment drives are also on the for 89,000 employees. For the financial year 2017-18, about 26,000 workers has been trained in which 4000 people already undergoing their training. The on-the-job training or practical training is performed and commenced in the establishment itself.

In a statement Indian Railway said that "Skill training provided only through formal institutions is not enough to make labor force fully efficient, so it needs to be supplemented by training in the actual workplace.

Indian Railway also said that implementation of the apprentices has a large set of workshops and production units. Under these work units, every year thounsands of  apprentices were turned out.

Indian Railway also said that, If they are certified and granted the NCVT (National Council for Vocational Training) that will help them to secure employmnet in industry.
