XAT Eligibility Criteria

There are almost 11 member institutes and 150 institutes participating with XAT. All the institutes which participate with XAT 2018 might have the different eligibility criteria. Before applying, candidates must make sure that they fulfill all the eligibility norms of the particular institute.

For Human Resource Management and Business Management:
  • For Human Resource Management (HRM) programme, candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree of at least three years duration or equivalent in any discipline from any recognised institutes. Candidates who are appearing for their graduation final exam by June 10, 2018 can also apply.
  • To apply for the Human Resource Management (HRM) programme, it is essential that the candidates must hold at least Bachelor’s Degree of three years duration or equivalent in any discipline from any recognized university or institute.
  • Aspirants appearing in the final year of graduation by June 10, 2018 are also eligible to apply.
For General Management Programme:
  • Aspirants possessing Bachelor's degree in India or abroad with a minimum of five years managerial/ supervisory experience by March 31, 2018 are eligible to apply.
  • You can also apply through XAT 2018 or GMAT score (given the exam between December 1, 2015, and December 20, 2017).

Number of Attempts:
  • XAT is the toughest exam and there is no limit for the number of attempts in XAT 2018. Most probably students take 3-5 attempts in the XAT exam.
  • Keen students qualify the exam in two or three attempts.
XAT Selection Process:
  • The selection of the students in B-schools across the country will massively depend on their XAT scores. However, this is not the only one way for selection of candidates for MBA programmes; they also have to go through some more selection stages of the respective B-schools.
  • Based on their scores in the academic examination and the cut off marks of Xavier Aptitude Test, the candidates will be selected by XLRI and other participating institutes across the country. Those applicants clear the written exam called to appear for GD and Personal Interview rounds conducted by the respective B-schools.
  • This exam will be online test.
  • It will be conducted in two papers that are paper 1 and paper 2.
  • The paper 1 will consist of 78 questions from Decision Making, Verbal and Logical Ability and Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation.
  • Paper 2 will contain 25 questions from General Awareness and one topic for essay writing.
  • Paper I is of 2 Hours 50 minutes and Paper II is of 35 minutes respectively.
