Who is sub inspector of police?
A police officer whose rank comes under an
inspector or some head constables is sub inspector of police. Sub inspector is
lowest ranking officer who can file a charge sheet in court under Indian police
rules and regulations. Subordinates can only investigate a case on behalf of sub
inspector and cannot file a charge sheet.
Sub inspector ranking is above an Assistant
sub inspector and below the inspector. Most of the candidates, who have high
educational qualifications than other low ranking police officers, are directly
selected for the post of sub inspector of police.In this case directly selected

How to Become a Sub Inspector of Police?
To become sub inspector, candidates must
apply for SI Examination first. This exam is conducted by Staff Selection
Commission. Only graduated candidates are eligible to apply for this
examination. In this examination, first candidates have to clear the Physical
Endurance Test.
Sub Inspector of Police Exams
List
Eligible candidates must go under the process of Physical
Endurance Test (PET). Candidates who have cleared Physical
Endurance Test will be called for Written
Examination and after clearing the written exam candidates have to
attend interview and medical examination. Candidates who will get selected in
interview and medical examination will be taken to their training modules. They
also have to pass seven obstacle events as mentioned below.
- Jumping over the Vertical Board
- Holding the rope on jumping from the Board
- Tarzan Swing
- Jumping on the Horizontal Boar
- Parallel Rope
- Monkey Crawl
- Vertical Rope
Eligibility for Sub Inspector of Police:
Some points of
eligibility which is necessary to keep in mind while applying for this post are
mentioned below:
- To become the Sub Inspector in the Department of Indian Police, one must have a Indian Citizenship.
- The minimum educational qualification to become Police Sub inspector is Bachelor degree (Must be graduate) in any discipline with 50% marks from a recognized university / Institute.
- Those individuals who’re passing put from the 12th standard will not be eligible to get the SI Jobs in Police Department.
- Applier’s age must be resided in between 20 to 25 years as on last date of official notification.
- Candidates must have a Height of 170 cm with Chest of 80-85 cm to get the Sub Inspector Recruitment in Police Department.
Relaxation Given By the
Government:
The upper age limit as prescribed above
will be relaxed only in the following cases:-
- Upto a maximum of 05 years, for ST
- Upto a maximum of 3 years, for OBC
- Relaxation in the upper age limit is admissible upto 40 years (43 years for OBC, 45 years for SCs/STs) for departmental candidates of Police.
Selection Process for Police Sub Inspector:
To become the Sub Inspector of Police SI or
PSI, Candidates will have to undergo the following tests. Overall performance
of the applicants will be judged for final recruitment on the basis of these
processes.
- Written exam consists of 2 papers for 200 Marks (100 Marks each).
- Physical Endurance Test qualified candidates have to pass the written examination with at least 50% marks in each written paper (excluding Interview) and 55% marks in aggregate (including Interview).
- The SC/ST candidates will be permissible for concession upto 5% marks as per Govt. of India instructions.
- Total 20 Marks is set for interviewround.
- The Candidates, who acquire the required passing marks in written examination, will be called for Interview to check personal bearing, response, aptitude, general level of intelligence etc.
Physical Standards:
Contenders who are found eligible on verification of documents will go for Height, Chest (for male candidates only) and Weight measurements. Those who do not fulfill the Physical Measurement Tests requirement will disqualify from the selection process and will not be allowed to appear in further tests.

Candidates shortlisted in order of merit will be put through a Detailed Medical Examination to review their fitness. All the candidates are medically examined by the Medical Officer of the CAPFs or any other Medical Officer. Visual Standards required for the above selection shall be as follows:
