IPS Syllabus: Candidates will be required to write two Essays.
Indian Society/politics/ Economy/Development, Growth and related
aspects and second topic related to security and related matters

IPS Pre Exam Pattern
- The Examination shall comprise of two compulsory papers of 200 marks each:
- Both the question papers will be of the objective type (multiple choice questions).
- The question papers will be set both in Hindi and English.However, questions relating to English Language Comprehension skills of Class X level will be tested through passages from English Language only without providing Hindi translation thereof in the question paper.
- Each paper will be of two hours duration. Blind candidates will however, be allowed an extra time of twenty minutes for each paper
IPS Main Syllabus
Paper-A: IPS Syllabus for Paper A will contain one of the Indian
Language to be selected by the candidate from the Languages included in the
Eighth Schedule to the Constitution.
Paper-B English: In this paper marks to be
counted for merit.
Paper-I Essay:
In this exam candidates have to write essay. Essay will be
written on the topics Indian Society/ politics/ Economy/ Development, Indian Growth
etc.

UPSC IPS Syllabus for Interview Test
- Those applicants who will qualify the UPSC Main examination will be only eligible for Interview Test or Personality Test.
- You will be interviewed by Union Public Service Commission members will have before them a record of your career. You will be asked questions on matters of general interest.
- The objective of this UPSC Interview is to assess your personal suitability for your further career in public service. This test will judge your mental ability.
- This interview test will reveal not only your intellectual qualities but also social traits and your interest in current affairs.
- Your interview test is not planned to be a test either of specialized or general knowledge which has been already tested through their written papers.
