TANCET exam is common test which is conducted for all candidates who are interested in admission in MBA programs, MCA or engineering stream post-graduation degrees. As per Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test, there are three question papers for each stream. For MBA Courses:

General aptitude test is conducted by Anna University for MBA courses that are offered by Tamil Nadu colleges. TANCET 2018 for MBA courses is divided into four sections. In which, first section aims to check the candidate’s ability to identify data and apply the data to business decisions from given typical business situations. On the other hand, rest sections evaluate student’s passage comprehension ability, mathematics and Basic English knowledge. Only Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) will be asked and negative marks are deducted for wrong responses in TANCET 2018 exam.

Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test 2018 is also the entrance test for getting into post graduate MCA courses in state colleges of Tamil Nadu. Exam examines the aspirant’s capability regarding admission into MCA course. Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test consists of four different questions namely Quantitative Aptitude, Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning and General Computer Awareness. Only multiple choice questions that make up the maximum marks of 100 will be asked. Negative marking in TANCET 2018 exam for MCA courses will be done. Also, there can be some questions from English and Basic Sciences, though it is less probable.

For M.tech/M.E/M.Arch Courses:

Candidates willing to continue higher studies in engineering stream in academic session 2018-19 also need to face TANCET 2018. TANCET exam 2018 for M.Tech or M.Arch and other technological courses decided whether the candidate is eligible for admission into the state colleges of Tamil Nadu. The exam itself comprises of three parts.

Part I and Part II are mandatory for the applicants while they have to choose the Part III’s subject at the time of registration. Part III should be chosen according to the course the candidate wants to pursue. Maximum time allowed for the examination is two hours. There are only 100 multiple choice questions. All the questions will be of undergraduate level. Negative marking is valid for incorrect answers.

TANCET 2018 Marking Scheme

There are different papers for different courses in TANCET 2018 but similar marking scheme is followed in all tests. Contenders can have a look into the marking scheme of this exam:
  • Tamil Nadu CET question paper will be of 100 marks containing 100 multiple choice questions.
  • Each question carries 1 mark and that is awarded for each correct answer.
  • Candidates lose 1/3 marks for every incorrect response.
  • If a student marks more than one option in a single question in TAN Common Entrance Test 2018, it is counted as wrong and negative marking is done.
  • Questions left unanswered are ignored while checking the OMR. No marks are given for such questions.
