NTSE Exam Pattern:
The NTSE 2019 exam pattern will be designed
in such a way that it evaluates a candidate's ability to think systematically,
along with the verbal and mathematical skills. NTSE 2019 question paper will be
in English language.

NTSE Exam Pattern
NTSE 2019 examination will be conducted in

NTSE Exam
Pattern– Stage 1
- Stage 1 is conducted at State/UT level by the concerned State/UT authorities. The question paper consists of two papers: MAT and SAT.
- Stage 1 examination can be attempted in either Hindi or English language.
- Every correct answer will fetch 1 mark while there is no negative marking for wrong attempts.
- The total time to answer the paper is 240 minutes.
- Candidates can find the detailed exam pattern of NTSE 2019 of Paper 1 and 2 of Stage 1 examination below:
MAT section consists of a total of 100
questions. Questions are asked from series, pattern perception, analogies,
coding-decoding, classifications, hidden figures and problem-solving etc. The
time allotted for this section is 120 mins.
Part 2 –
Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT): SAT section consists of a total of 100 questions from Science
(40), Social
Studies(40) and Mathematics
(20). The section tests the candidate’s reading abilities, interpretation,
evaluation and general awareness of the subjects. The time allotted for the SAT
section is 120 minutes.

NTSE
Exam Pattern– Stage 2
In Stage II, only the shortlisted or
qualified candidates of Stage 1 can appear to compete for the scholarship. According
to the NTSE Exam Pattern for Stage 2 the paper here is also is divided into two
parts namely Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
The NTSE Stage 2 exam will be held on 12-05-2019
in all states and union territories of India. There will be 100 questions in
both MAT and SAT (Science-40, Maths-20, Social science-40).

- The duration of both the exams is 2 hours or 120 minutes each. In NTSE Stage 2, there will not be any negative marking. Only candidates qualifying in both the papers separately will be considered for merit.
- Selection of the awardees will be made on the basis of total marks scored in MAT and SAT based on merit.
NTSE Syllabus 2019
NCERT has designed the syllabus for stage 1
and 2 of the exam. The NTSE syllabus consists of paper-wise topics and
sub-topics of MAT and SAT included in each stage of the exam.
The MAT section will test students on their
thinking ability, reasoning etc. while the SAT is further divided into three
sub-sections namely Science, Maths and Social Science.
